Origin
Ejiao Beads are made from the gelatin extracted from donkey hide, produced by simmering and refining the skin of the Equidae animal Equus asinus after hair removal. This traditional process creates highly concentrated, nutrient‑rich gelatin pearls.
 
Original Animal Description
The donkey is smaller than a horse, typically weighing around 200 kg. It has a long head, round eyes, and a pair of distinctive long ears. The neck is long and thick, with short, sparse mane. The body is well‑proportioned, with short, sturdy limbs and strong hooves. The tail ends with a tuft of long hair. Common coat colours include black, chestnut, and grey. China’s well‑known Guanzhong donkey is valued for its large size and strong reproductive ability.
 
Habitat & Distribution
Temperament: Gentle and easy to manage.
Feeding: Eats coarse feed such as wheat straw and grain stalks; also consumes sorghum, barley, and legumes.
Distribution: Widely raised across northern China.
